April Showers...

It's the first day of April and there's no fooling around here about this next party theme idea I have to share with y'all! When I start thinking of April, the saying "April showers brings May flowers" comes to mind and it would be such a unique birthday party theme. Those born in April could totally pull this off, boys or girls. So get out your umbrellas and join me for an April Showers party theme.

The Decor:

I just love the decor options for this party theme. My absolute favorite is the first option pictured to the left above. It's just so awesome! Get some umbrellas from Dollar General or somewhere similar, fake flowers or make them with tissue paper, blue balloons for raindrops, watering cans, white streamers, and some fishing wire to complete this look. Another option is to have small umbrellas with white beads hanging from them to look like raindrops as centerpieces on the tables (pictured in the middle above). I would include small fake pots of flowers for the name place cards, which you can usually find at the Dollar Tree around this time of year. I also love the option of using the rain boots to hold flowers underneath umbrellas and ribbons (pictured to the right above).  I would include the saying "April showers brings May flowers" somewhere on a sign of some sort.

The food:

These flower garden parfaits are too cute! Make them with chocolate pudding, mini marshmallows, chocolate chips, peanut butter, and colored green coconut or green sprinkles. The flowers are made with plastic green spoons and fake daisies hot glued on them. You could do any flower and substitute peanut butter with white and chocolate pudding mixed (to get the tan color) for those allergic to peanut butter.

These umbrella cupcakes are another cool option for this party theme. They are made by cutting a cupcake in half, icing them, inserting a cut piece of bendy straw, and putting on round sprinkles for the polka dots. Adorable!

Another option for party food is April showers cookies. These are smaller cookies, but I think making this design on a bigger cookie cake would be so cool and unique.

The Games/Activities:

Some game and activity options are popping balloons shaped like an umbrella to reveal prizes (pictured to the left), painting umbrellas that the guests get to take home (pictured in the middle) and making an April showers picture complete with tissue paper flowers (pictured to the right). I would modify these ideas by using different colored balloons for the umbrella to make it look more like Spring (the game pictured was actually for a Mary Poppins party) and I would offer other ways for the guests to decorate their umbrellas. They could do polka dots like pictured, or use paint pens, stencils and paint, etc. I love that decorating an umbrella doubles as their party favor as well.

Favors:

These plastic umbrella boxes can be purchased online and filled with little candies for the guests to take home. They are super cute!

I love the option of sending home a packet of flower seeds with the guests so they can let the April showers bring about some of their own May flowers. I would include a catchy phrase on it like "If you were a flower, I'd pick you".
This theme is just too cool for an April birthday party and would definitely be a party your guests would talk about for weeks to come, because it's just so unique. If you would be interested in having a party like this for your child, please reach out. I would love to make this happen for you. This theme could easily be used for a baby shower as well. I just chose to highlight it as a birthday party. If you need any help planning a party, contact me today. Let A.M. Parties bring the party to you!
