Have a Jolly Holiday!

I have always been a lover of Mary Poppins. One year for my mom's birthday we had a small Mary Poppins party for her, because the movie came out the year she was born. It was so much fun to plan! The ideas are endless!! Let's jump into what it would be like to throw a "jolly holiday" birthday party.
Some food options for the party are pictured above. I love the cheese wheel umbrellas with the straws for the handles. I actually created cupcakes like the ones pictured in the middle above. They were so cute and easy. After making and icing the cupcakes, I just had to get small plastic tea spoons, use some ribbon to tie bows and then I had my own "spoonful of sugar" cupcakes. The cupcakes with the kites for the toppers are also another cute idea.
No party is complete without some fun games. Here are a few game ideas. Pin the bow-tie on the penguin would be easy and cute. You can also have a spoonful of sugar race where contestants race to fill up a bowl with sugar first (you could use white sand if you didn't want to use sugar). My personal favorite would be a little more difficult to pull off, but would be totally worth it. Having a carousel horse race would be spectacular! The horses are made with pool noodles, yarn, ribbon, and googly eyes (using a hot glue gun of course) and the goal is for the guests to get through the obstacles and return their horses to the "carousel", which is a small kid pool with colorful play balls in them. Obstacles can be made with cones, more pool noodles and even lines of tape where the kids have to walk on the lines or jump over them.

Now for some other activities you could do at the party. The picture above is a cute station for chalk drawings using chalk, and thick black paper. Each guest can create a drawing to take home. You can spray the picture with hair spray to help it stick to the paper when they are done.

Another cute activity would be for the guests to decorate their own paper kites (picture above and to the right). They could decorate them with paint, sequins, stickers, glitter glue etc.

A cute photo booth could also be made using a tri-board (pictured to the right). I think I would make the penguin a little taller.

If you wanted to include some cute party favors you could send your guests home with bags of birdseed feeders and chocolate coins, or you could send them with some chalk so they can create their own bit of magic with chalk at home.
It would be more than just an "element of fun" to plan a Mary Poppins birthday party for you! If you are interested in this party theme, please reach out to me. I would love to customize it for you and bring you your own "jolly holiday"!!
